Release water runs clear-green even when tributaries are muddy - the Shenango can be the only fishable river in the county after a storm, and the first to become dangerous when the Corps opens gates.

Storm clearing follows the tributaries (24-72 hours), but release changes happen on the Corps' schedule, not the weather's. The gauge trend matters more than the absolute number.

How the bands were set: Working bands derived from USGS daily statistics for station 03103500 (Sharpsville), 10 years ending Oct 2026: percentiles p10 228, p25 261, median 525, p75 1,320, p90 2,180, p95 2,650 cfs. This is a RELEASE river: flows are set by the Army Corps at Shenango Dam and by Pymatuning Dam upstream (station 03101500, median 154 cfs) more than by last night's rain. Check BOTH gauges and the Corps' release schedule before wading below either dam.
